The branch of the bay tree shook
A bird's wing at dawn
With a leaf in (my) lips I was whistling
The songs that spring itself was awakening
Under our sky, out of our blood you blossom
No, you don't blossom, but flourish in every season
We only wanted for life to flourish everywhere
All of her four seasons to be always green
We don't want the glory (bay crowns) in our life as a gift
From the war's blood, from our forehead's sweat they flourished
In sunny days, in times when there's lightning
You grow, grow, you flourish
Your blossoming--youthful blossoming that speaks about the history
Beautiful bay tree--o crown knitted for freedom!
Dressed up with blossoms this land
The dawns awaits
And the dawns it awakes
The branch of the bay tree shook
The northern breeze, the southern wind
The days pass-on to one another
The sun of life's springs
Under our sky, out of our blood you blossom
No, you don't blossom, but flourish in every season
We only wanted for life to flourish everywhere
All of her four seasons to be always green
We don't want the glory (bay crowns) in our life as a gift
From the war's blood, from our forehead's sweat they flourished
In sunny days, in times when there's lightning
You grow, grow, you flourish
Your blossoming--youthful blossoming that speaks about the history!
Beautiful bay tree--o crown knitted for freedom!
Dressed up with blossoms this land
The dawns awaits
and the dawns it awakes
Dressed up with blossoms this land
The dawns it awakes!
