At only the age of seven
With a fiddle on his hand
My great-grandfather Sean
Had to leave his homeland
He swore that he'd return
No matter the cost
But the times stayed rough
And his dreams got lost
At fourteen he got ill
Could no longer walk
The doctors tried to help
All they did was just talk
But something deep inside him
Just wouldn't give up
Until he became a tap dancer
Can you feel my Irish heart
Can you feel my Irish heart
Beating, beating?
Can you feel my Irish heart
Can you feel my Irish heart
Beating, beating?
So like my late father
And his fathers before
I'm proud to say I'm Irish
Down to the core
And even though I've lived
Mostly astray
The song, the dance, the humour
It just won't go away
And if you'd say I'm ugly
Well, you would be right
But you would want me with you
If you got in a fight
I finally returned
For meself and little Sean
To the country with the biggest heart
Can you feel my Irish heart
Can you feel my Irish heart
Beating, beating?
Can you feel my Irish heart
Can you feel my Irish heart
Beating, beating?
