I Trollehender [English translation]

Åsmund trew his blue jacket

Put on a ragged coat

(He) Thougt the jacket was too fine

To end up in troll hands

Such he came in the first hall

There was so strange

The tablecloths were dragged trough blood

And the serpents were playing at the tables

Then he came into the second hall

He was in great danger

Ganne-kerid1 stood on the floor

And the troll ruled over it

Such he came into the third hall

There he could like it better

There were nice beds done

Covered in white silk

1. I don't know what "Ganne-kerid" is, but it is probably nothing good.

"Gann" is a form of witch-craft, originaly norse, but later assosiated with the Sami shamans. "Gann" is mostly bad, like a curse.

There was also in norse times the"gand-reið", which was a large group pf ghosts or witches flying across the sky.
