Destruction everywhere
Their lives e'er changed
This stranger intrudes
To lend a hand unabated
Their world knows mine
For the past sets resolve
To know the fear of future
Restoring lives routine
Flying pole high to view
No street signs standing
A map memorized routes
In a place far unfamiliar
Taken aback that in this
There were flags flying
A spirit of defiance made
Hope in days to come
A tremendous wave came
It ravaged the terrain
Those who lived there
Lost their familiarity too
The sea took many
Crippling rescue services
Another hurricane came
It destroyed what was left
Proud of most people
Tempers were reserved
Patience filled the lines
Even with little available
Patience, understanding
Flexibility and improvisation
Merits misplaced unneeded
Reborn in humanity, in disaster
