Here we are
And we believe in the cause
Now for it
and get the cart out of the mud
It's got to go, there's only one thing we want
Once we get moving, we'll roll right over you
It was a year ago, Jens and Matthias came through the door, they said "Here we are"
"And we want to come hang out, kill a bit of time and write the new Prinzen hit with you"
Then came Ali as well, and I said "Hey, with you there's four of us. I wonder what'll happen," but then we didn't compose anything, just sat round and talked as usual.
We were a bit frustrated, but then it happened, Jens sat over with me, and it got a bit close, then it went "ping"
He went to the piano and played this chorus:
Here we are
And we believe in the cause
Now for it
and get the cart out of the mud
It's got to go, there's only one thing we want
Once we get moving, we'll roll right over you
Yeah, well, now we hear the questions from different people - What's it supposed to mean, they'll say? What's the cause, what - which cart? What's got to go, out of which mud, and for what purpose? We got a bit worried about it, but then we sang it acapella for an old record exec friend and he got it - he was all ears and said; "We'll have a huge hit with that - sing it again" and he sang along without being asked: "Here we are and we believe in the cause!"
Here we are
And we believe in the cause
Now for it
and get the cart out of the mud
It's got to go, there's only one thing we want
Once we get moving, we'll roll right over you
So in the end it's the same with us as everyone else - everyone likes to do a favour for his bos. We don't know how it's going for you because none of us understand these lyrics yet.
But it's artfully sung in our harmonies, even though we're still searching for context.
So you can start thinking about it and in your waking moments start to suck your pens and send us postcards - we're waiting for your opinions whether you like it or not.
If someone says "It's shit, you should shut up instead", we won't shut up. We live in a free country, we're charming and tolerant and here anyone can sing what they want, oh man, you don't have a choice anyway.
We'll just sing it again
Here we are
And we believe in the cause
Now for it
and get the cart out of the mud
It's got to go, there's only one thing we want
Once we get moving, we'll roll right over you
