There are no known words
None to take away the pain
Not even in upmost sincerity
Bereavement goes its course
As though an abandoned ship
Upon a silent ceaseless sea
It drifts on unguided perilously
Toward rocks rugged, unlit
The sting of lost inconsolable
Is a manifestation of caring
A life endeared journeying on
Now progressing far beyond us
They say time heals all wounds
But the truth is more inhumane
Its intensity will return at times
To reopen the emptiness within
Each of us has a bound destiny
That will be fulfilled in a time
The void opens and closes so
With each breath and heart beat
Only caring and sharing given
Will again find purpose known
That words cannot alone mend
So that the sun can shine again
All lives are filled with dramas
Between comedy and tragedy
We must all carry one another
For in the end, we are all alone
