Fate does not always show itself
The intended plans fail to thrive
The ingenious will survive without
Plant what is best to live fulfilled
Space is a valued asset timed
Sun and shadow struggle daily
Those casting over stunt the meek
Observe extending life and abide
Sow that which is most giving
Though not choice, sustaining
Leaves and finally roots constant
May substitute expectations yet
The fruits awaited fill nothing
The climate may not give way
Variables of luck and fortune
Unpredictable results in the end
What grows of its own accord
Deemed weeds, uncultivated
First to show in budding spring
Last to succumb to the snows
They keep bellies full in famine
Or when funds are too low to pay
What is forage untamed here
Carries over to those grown there
In this world there is always bounty
A boone by lore and practice
Discerning living sustenance
A healthful collecting celebration
