I have just passed
A big neon-green sign
Where someone yelled: "hey you,
I can tell your fortune
You look pretty lost."
There was a man in the doorway
Compelling me
I thought "What do I have to lose
I'll give in
I'm going in"
He said: "the stars tell
Who you are as an individual
Jump if you dare
Risk your life
And you don't know half
Of what I'm reading here
But remember before you jump,
Ask the stars when."
He took me on a trip
A guided tour of my life
And soon we passed the border
To what's called the future
I should've left but there was
Something holding me back
Yes, wanting to know
What's waiting for me someday
He said: "the stars tell
Who you are as an individual
Jump if you dare
Risk your life
And you don't know half
Of what I'm reading here
But remember before you jump,
Ask the stars when."
"You might meet someone
Who puts lives at risk"
I got up to leave and said
"Whatever happens, happens"
But I'm not a slave
Of the powers that control
I have free will
I don't need to flee"
He said: "Ask the stars when"
I remember the green sign
And the smell of burning asphalt
And somewhere inside me
A door was left ajar
Even though I don't believe
In the stars
It's been hard for me to forget
Those words he said:
"the stars tell
Who you are as an individual
Jump if you dare
Risk your life
And you don't know half
Of what I'm reading here
But remember before you jump,
Ask the stars when."
