And after the funeral service is over
A seat in sobering shock takes hold
Where reality seeps in so slowly
The body stilled reassures death
That mortals fear, or pray for it
Here, in a solemn salute confiding
The smiles and smerks of ago
Amid showers of tears quietly
A place where follies and faults
Ride the swirling seas of emotion
Perhaps a tune, a song, a shot
That reassures us they were
So then someone might miss us
Even oncein passing, or in life
Forgiving, but not forgetting them
So that in the blue sky or the wind
The treasures of life's experience
Those precious stones we touch
Will shine on after we have gone
Our name will be then our deeds
Tomorrows will come to awaken
And they will live again anew
As long as we breathe them life
Stones of souls standing sentries
Eternally precious in our hearts
