A soul that exists for itself
Alone, regarding none
Servants and trifles all
To do the bidding yet
Such character weak seen
In spirit seeking meek
That could not contest it
Nor could protest it
And a life lived in routine
Nearing selfish needs
A mundane mix to share
Frustration flowing freely
But nothing retains itself
And seasons sweep clean
The incidents so inane
That scarred for an age
Life's justice comes still
When the apparent strong
Debilitated by years so find
Withered hulk empty inside
But reality bids reckoning
Of an imminenet farewell
And the weaknesses shine
In fear's undeniable visage
A lesson too late to learn
That a life be well lived
Compassion and right fare
With eternal rewards earned
Then fear will have no place
But the need to rest a while
For a life well lived and loved
A well earned serene smile
