Eva does not want to be for Adam
that child-bearer paid off with a crumb,
preferring to be the mother of all nations,
who has chosen what she holds beneath her thumb,
and seeks out the most spirited of stallions
to give good use, no question, doubt or qualm.
Eva has changed the programme.
Eva goes out hunting, hot, in heat,
she goes about to seek out seed,
mounts, dismounts, remounts at speed,
rejects the role of rib that bleeds.
Eva does not dress up with frills on her pants,
she has no belief in a Charming Prince,
and is always herself, ecstatic or sad,
the child will be hers, with or without dad.
She has no concerns about public opinion
and is firm at the helm as is any good captain,
while shrugging his shoulders:
Adam.
