The disconnection starts, the air and energy ends
There is no one in the controls, the ship floats wandering
And I, with melancholic vision, review science and religion,
I point out to the sun, that is where I lived.
A small blue dot gets lost between a million sparks
It’s my planet, a light-day away, and a lesson in perspective
And I, scared to death in a corner, think about my civilization
I whisper in the command port that I lived there
Then I break down crying and thousands of teardrops defy gravity
I take away my flag from my space suit
And I write on the back that I belong to humanity
As the monitor indicates, I have less time left
To suffer the collision that brings me back to the firmament
And I, hear the echo of my voice
Recording this retransmission
So that it plays in the future and serves as a lesson
And then I break down crying,
and thousands of teardrops defy gravity
I take away my flag from my space suit and I write on the back
that I belong to humanity, the fragile existence, miraculous and casual
The smallest life is worth a thousand times more than largest nation ever invented.
