Between sigh and sigh
I don't find oblivion,
love is killing me
because an ungrateful perjurer,
that tortures my soul,
hurts me with her disdain.
Between sob and sob
I have no rest,
and I cry and sing, at the same time,
because by singing I alleviate
the hard punishment
that God wanted to impose on me.
Why dear God, so good,
being just and serene
sends me such a punishment?
Why did He choose, for me, this fate,
and sentence me to death
just for loving her like this?
