M.D. so and so
was a worthy professional.
An example of integration
between work and vocation.
His task wasn't to treat
but only to check
the illnesses of the staff
of a big industrial company.
The doctor was very skilled.
He has detected many more
than a hundred cases of falseness
in sickness notices.
Facing that his procedure
consisted in not giving in.
"No sir, don't lie to me.
I'll make you get fired."
"Everybody wants to miss.
Everybody wants to laze around.
Why don't you leave the place
for those who want to work?"
If the ill was very tough
the doctor was harsher.
"Don't make a scene, you're not that sick,
go take a mejoral."
According to his role
the doctor was earning a big income.
Knowledge doesn't take a place
but it must be valued.
M.D. so and so
never saw an hospital again
since he went to the college
many years ago.
Since he graduated,
the doctor never again
felt interested in finding out
the cause of a lumbar ache.
He never saw a kidney again.
Nor he treated someone with measles.
And theres nobody who can say
of seeing him prescribing.
Not even for fun
he was seen any time
helping in an operation
or signing a defunction.
Nor listening with attention
to the beats of a heart.
Nor ever taking the pressure.
Let alone giving an injection.
But nobody ever doubted,
nobody ever wondered
if it wasn't a mistake
the cross in the Ford's plate.
And if you one day go
to his house, in a wall,
you'll see it in all its splendour.
You'll see the doctor diploma.
