Digging in below starry light
Amid the booms and bangs
The sporatic coloured response
Of a percussive symphony
Thorasic trembling enstills
The night is awakened here
None shall sleep in this unrest
A stir that blends shadows long
And the frantic pulses exploding
The earth turned up is a comfort
Against the pyrotechnic blasts
That rock the world startled
That trenches and holes be safe
Or a dusty fallow grave sown
That we have erringly burrrowed in
Mother earth embraces us
We return what we have taken
Dessicating blood and body
Our salvation is our mother earth
She gains us in her loving arms
And gives us shelter in our need
No complaints that we dig in
To scar her surface thoughtlessly
She holds no grudges for us
The salvos above shatter heaven's might
A final salute to cease our entities
Or a light to show our way out
But will it be to escape this upheaval
Or like an extinguishing overzealous firefly
A guide to God in this pounding fright
