The fox was plagued much by hunger
Then he's on his way to find a goose
Lurking through the forest, pleading the moon
That he should spare him with his rays
Thus he runs to peasant Tannental (1)
For he knows, he has a stable of duck and geese
I shall feast on them
He says, a few fat ones I gotta have
Thus he catches the goose by the neck
A few ducklings too, he's grabbing himself
He doesn't care for their "quack, quack, quack"
Keep screaming, ye dumb feathered fowl
The noise wakes up the grandmother
SHe looks out the house "Oh the fox is here"
Johnny, the fox has taken the goose..
And he's going for the ducklings too..
Johnny loads up his rifle with shot
Misses the target and the goose falls dead
The fox just laughs, Ohohoho..
I shall be back in two days or so..
Then he sits with wife and child at home
Feasting with them on the precious meat
Nay never there was such a sumptuous meal
And later they scatter the bones in the Valley
Nay never there was such a sumptuous meal
And later they scatter the bones in the Valley
