De repente desperté [English translation]

Today I dreamed that everything is a lie

that no war exists, no peace, no sickness, no medicines

that no flags exist, no carrier pigeons

Today I dreamed that everything is a lie

that no "justly" unemployed exist

and that the politician is made of clay

and that there can't be a disaster that any tailor isn't able to fix

and suddenly I woke up

and what was my surprise, the moment I saw the TV

in the 3 o'clock news, a man was killing his kids

to take revenge on his ex-wife

suddenly I woke up

and it was like in a dream

I saw the world was a paper

where a man of power paints scribbles,

to wash his hands afterwards

suddenly I woke up

and as always this damn world

both so strange and absurd

both so cruel and taciturn,

began to walk in the opposite direction

Today I dreamed that everything is a lie,

that in the world, inequality didn't exist,

and that the children didn't die of AIDS,

and that there weren't first ones nor last ones because they were foreigners

and suddenly I woke up

and I saw four people on the TV fighting for power,

while in the streets the people, enslaved,

were looking for food in the garbage

Suddenly I woke up

and I saw how behind every movement there was a cause

and I saw how they killed dictators in the name of peace,

they were only put there by you

Suddenly I woke up

and as always this damn world

both so strange and absurd

both so cruel and taciturn,

began to walk in the opposite direction

and now I can't tell the dream from the reality,

we think we progress without an owner,

who's really missing,

who's really missing,

and that there isn't anything worse than he who denies to see,

however difficult it may be to see,

it seems to me so difficult to believe that a destiny exists

when the whole world is dancing

and four people are hanging by a thread

and even if this humble ballad never is of any use,

today I'll sleep more peacefully.
