When you may no longer care for me
Don’t feign love for me
Don’t have pity for me
Compassion, nor misgivings.
If you forgot all about me
I don’t blame you nor fight back
Nor will I give you the disgust
Of watching my suffering.
I will start off humming
My saddest poem
I will sing to the whole world
What you liked me to sing
And when no one listens to
My songs now old, oh!
I will end my path in a town
Far away and there I will die.
I know that you no longer love me.
Your eyes have told me,
I will leave by the route
That has no end
I will pay always, always
I will leave without anger
And my lips without kisses
Will sing a madrigal
I will start off humming
My saddest poem
I will sing to the whole world
What you liked me to sing
And when no one listens to
My songs now old, oh!
I will end my path in a town
Far away and there I will die
