I see the uncertain silence of the night
Beneath its obscuring pall, strirrings of life
A distant voice breaks the still surroundings
The droning of a call for flares
It resounds through the labrinth's corridors
Then a penetrating 'pop', unmistakable
And a trail into the celestial heavens
As if a close falling star, a cursed comet
That signals the omnious destiny to be
Deemed by an omnipotent diety
Then the chuted meteor descends
Ever so slowly, unpredictably, unendingly
So brief for those who launched them
So eternal for those trying to escape them
Heaven's light peers into the jungle canopy
Beams of light trail in lengths scattered
Yet so uniformally bending on descent
As if shining a light through a ragged blind
Revealing only in hightlights passing
Quickly showing hidden dynamic shadows
At times the lights over are brilliant white
Clear as if the midday shining above
But sometimes they are a sinister red
That paints a tapestry is if flowing blood
One of horror, one of panic and terror
Then the crackling of weaponry and shouts
The chaos of outrunning the light
Finding the darkness, finding safe haven
Exposure or movement, magnets of doom
Strips of canopy light that tear the flesh
As the rays bend, stray, and dim
Sporatic firing toward muzzle glare
Silence overtakes this arbeal world again
There will be no sleep this night
The dawn will reveal calamitie's claim
