There are no crosses on mass graves,

And widows don't weep nearby them,

Just somebody brings bouquets of flowers,

And the Eternal Flame1 is lighted.

Here in the past the ground swelled in turmoil,

And now - slabs of granite.

Here there is no individual fate -

All fates are melted into single one.

In the Eternal Flame burning tank can be seen,

Burning Russian huts,

Burning Smolensk and burning Reichstag2

Burning heart of a soldier.

At the mass graves there aren't tearful widows -

Stronger character people walk here.

There are no crosses on mass graves,

But does it make it any easier? ..
