When the rains of autumn fall
As though every day
And blackens the trapped spirit
But cleanses the vegitation
In a last hurrah of growth
Winter's hold soon to be
Taking the lives of greenery
Bared in the breezes brisk
Signatures of life erased
Beneath a thick leafy cloak
The dank, cold ground thirsts
For the warming rays of light
The last respirations majestic
In crowns of divergent colour
Signal the start of autumn's end
