Clinging to the skies above us
On those frigid, long winter nights
As if heaven's drapery fluttering
Swaying in a celestial breeze afar
The colourful spectrum of beauty
As if beautiful shimmering ribbons
They shine through our wide eyes
And touch within, our chilled souls
The spectral folds, wisps cross it
Forbidden transitions atomic
The fringes n'er to touch the earth
Yet bound to intrude into space
Visible from far beyond our view
They join the heavens with earth
In a divine link that resounds o'er
For those who can hear its voice
A coronal mass of wonderment
Brought on by geomagnetic fields
They bring awe to its grandeur
The magnificence of our earth
The glowing river ever flowing
It floats, suspended in the sky
Amidst fiery clouds surrounding
The solar winds blow awakening
As though a dragon flying on high
Around the polar regions diverging
Fantastic hues, a stellar serpentine
That for a while reigns in the sky
