Not so long ago
I went
deep down the Earth.
I thought I would find
my lost love there
like a lonely diamond.
I won't tell you
what I saw there
deep down the Earth
All the elusive dreams
of mankind
flashed before my eyes
and I found the key
of paradise lost.
Deep down the Earth
I found treasure island
burried beneath the sea
on a bed of golden sand.
Deep down the Earth
I have seen lost cities,
as for my lost love
I never found it.
I rode the horses
of the conquistadores
deep down the Earth
And I crossed swords
with Nabuchodonosor's
armies
I went through wars,
stepped over bodies
that had turned to stone
I crossed borders
that no longer exist
and I even met
a couple of dinosaurs
who give you their regards
Deep down the Earth
I found a green tree
upside down
it had turned to glass
I recognized it as the tree
of the forbidden fruit,
as for my lost love
I never found it.
Deep down the Earth
I found a meteor.
Why does its light
still singe my body?
Now was this meteor
Earth's very core?
Or maybe it was
my lost love?
