Oh so small and simple
So common in the alpine
So rare in lowland clime
Yet she graces my abode
Present in the verdant greenery
Unseen to the unknowing
Yet my greatest pride
A symbol of purity
A living link of homeland
In the mountains so majestic
Growing wild in meadows
Purest white like snowflakes
As if freshly fallen
On the grassy garlands
She bestows upon the land
A brilliant vestal carpet
There were so many to love
But now so few and precious
To find a bloom is to find gold
A delicate treasure
Guarded and nurtured
In voiceless elegance
She is...an edelweiss
