We arrived here, a little tired
And hungry for poetry
Our hands full of love
That didn't want to leave.
We've lived and had children,
Planted trees and flags,
Written a thousand songs and more
Maybe beautiful, maybe useless.
Other emotions will come
I promise you,
My friend.
And we've come so far, singing
For those who want to here,
We've lived in the shadow
Of too many false promises;
Today it's time to think,
Today it's time to change,
We keep searching and walking
Dreaming in the eyes
Of women and men.
Other emotions will come
I promise you,
My friend.
We've crossed the deserts of the soul
And the gray, calm seas of solitude;
We've bet on the future,
We've philosophically won and lost.
Other emotions will come
I promise you,
My friend.
And I've come this far,
With this face of a saved shipwreck survivor
And this lazy going of a happy gypsy;
Suitcases full of memories,
Lost and found friends,
Some remorse and repentance,
With no regret or nostalgia.
Other emotions will come
I promise you,
My friend.
We've crossed the deserts of the soul
And the gray, calm seas of solitude;
More springs will come
Not only with leaves and flowers,
Yet a season
Fresh with new thoughts.
Other emotions will come
I promise you,
My friend...
