From the north I come with a song
in my soul, a happy zamba which I now sing
which the people of Tucumán dance,
with the characteristic enthusiasm of the place.
Everybody follows his or her partner,
young or old, I saw all kinds of people.
I circle half way, the dancing partner
forms a circle to continue
The gaucho comes playing a flourish
The stomping of the feet begins here.

For Tucumán girls,
dashing woman, orange blossom in flower
let them have whatever they may wish for,
for the first part is over.
I don't forget, believe me old friend,
about the dances that they have there.
Tucumán's men and women,
everyone makes an worthy effort to make merry
and to make this ugly life beautiful,
so that they forget that suffering is inevitable.
Empanadas to eat and wine in a jug,
guitar, kettle drum, and violin
and a few gallant women
so that the party may continue,
without leaving out the people who slipped in
old men with their tales to make people laugh.
