1. Flores: "chores" is a very archaic form of the contemporary re-Latinised word "flores", and one of the several variants that existed up to the XVI Century, when Portuguese was first standardized - other variants that are still used today both in Galicia and Northern Portugal are "frores" and "froles/frois". While I am aware of the fact that most versions of the poem use "flores", and that in the very sophisticated and cultured Portuguese Court in the XIII Century they would have preferred that, I have decided to be faithful to the troubadouresque nature of the text, and use less cultured, or rather, stilted language for the period.
