Petty pilfering pests
To line their nests
Contentious and dishonest
They prey upon one another
For favour of affections
For prestige amongst their own
Though attired in tuxedos
Brigands they truly be
Absence and storm, opportunity
They do not see an enemy
For generations shant be
Two traded, now a single charge
Attentive to cairns of stones
A poor trade for a single egg
Pilferage by a stealthy skua
Its agile attacks prove folly
In the chaos of defenselessness
None can come to aide another
