A cask, a keg once
That spun in a well
Lies empty upon the floor
Its purpose fulfilled
Drained and dumped
Cast adrift into the sea
Waves wafting vacant hope
And constant lulling lies
There seems to be no end
To this featureless horizon
An eternal journey
A rhythmically teetering voyage
Uneasy turmoil, constant
Awashed in a senseless salinity
Echoes of fluids flowing
Like the thud of an empty cup
Its last tug made in toast
The time ran away by the clock
Slipping surely seeping down
Between the cracks, and gone
