Les vacances au bord de la mer [English translation]

We used to go to the seaside....

Parents and children, side by side

We looked at how the crowd around

Spent the big money that they had

We, had to try to scrimp and save

after we had paid

the amount of the rent

coz, there was not much left for us..

And so, we spent our time watching boats

and licking cheap ice-lollipops

Posh hotels, or restaurants

For us were irrelevant.

And we spent our time boat-watching

We got up early at morning,

On the beach such a long time,

We took on a nice sun-tan

We used to go to the seaside,

Parents and children side by side,

And when the waves were more peaceful

We spent all the day on the isles,

Except when we no longer could....

And so, we spent our time watching boats

And licking cheap ice-lollipops..

Our hearts were a bit heavy

Yet, we had the beauty....
