The news came to the beach
In the rare quality of a mermaid
Half the bust of a Mayan goddess
Half a big whale tail
The news was amazing
Of the paradox lying in the sand
Some to wish her goddess kisses
Others to eat her tail
Oh, such an unequal world
Everything is so uneven
Oh, on one side there is carnival
On the other hand, total hunger
And the news that would be a dream
The mermaid's laughing miracle
It was such a hideous nightmare
There on that beach, there on the sand
The news was the war
Between the happy poet and the hungry
Ripping a beautiful mermaid,
Shattering the dream to either side
Oh, such an unequal world
Everything is so uneven
Oh, on one side there is carnival
On the other hand, total hunger
