I always had that dream
When I was a little girl living by a large fjord
To travel with Hurtigrute
Somewhere where I was going to go
Especially during the evenings
When Hurtigruta called from afar
And said that it was on the way
And I ran down to the harbour to look
It was like a party when it came
Like one thousand and one nights with a salty flavour
With a goodbye, and oh my God, there you are!
With cardboard boxes, with cats
And with eggs that wasn't supposed to crack
With loud shouts and hawsers that were thrown to land
Hard against the quay to be attached
It was the big world that came in
It was a ship made of steel
With fairy tales on the edges
The captain in black clothes
With real gold in the stripes
It was happiness with black on its lower part
That came
I always had that dream
When I was a little girl living by a large fjord
To travel with Hurtigrute
Somewhere where I was going to go
