Sting, Of All People, Will Headline The Halftime Show At The NBA All-Star Game

The NBA All-Star Game doesn’t exactly have an illustrious history when it comes to halftime performances. Ariana Grande performed last year and everyone freaked out because she looked like a 12-year-old cheerleader. Clearly fearing similar repercussions, the NBA decided to go back to a more tried-and-true route by hiring a musician no one wants to see in a cheerleader outfit, ever.

With that, we present the 2016 All-Star Game halftime performer: Sting.

The former lead singer of The Police highlights the Valentine’s Day event at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Among the other celebrities/acts who will be involved that weekend include actor Kevin Hart and actor-rapper Drake, both of whom will coach the celebrity All-Star Game on Feb. 12. Nelly Furtado will sing the Canadian national anthem before the game. Rounding out the list and making the whole weekend slightly more bearable will be Cirque du Soleil, which will perform before the All-Star Game.

Sting is definitely one of the more…interesting choices the All-Star Game could have come up with to perform at halftime. Would anybody have complained if the NBA wrote a blank check to Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa, asking them to continue their Twitter beef in real-time with a couple of microphones I mean, really just letting them go unscripted Probably not.
