Chris Christie Allegedly Signed This Pair Of Gym Shorts That’s Up For Bid On eBay

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a former Republican presidential candidate who endorsed front-runner Donald Trump to the internet’s delight, hasn’t done or said much lately. Maybe that’s because the embattled governor is a tad too busy dealing with angry state politicians in New Jersey — after all, he is the elected leader of an entire state (contrary to what anyone only familiar with his performances on the 2016 campaign trail may think). Perhaps he just doesn’t have the time to stump for Trump anymore.

That, or Christie is feverishly trying to take stock of his emergency gym clothes stores since a pair of shorts he allegedly signed went up for sale on eBay this week. The New York Daily News first reported on Thursday that eBay user jackrose104 was selling the shorts in a timed bid on the popular website. The bid, titled “NJ Governor Chris Christie’s Big Gym Shorts Signed And Autographed,” is scheduled to end on Saturday, March 26 at 6:11 p.m. ET, and the current tally stands at $225. Twelve bids have been placed thus far, but considering how much jackrose104 wants to get rid of the shorts, more potential buyers are welcome to try their luck.

The shorts, which are “fresh out of a NJ estate of a former employee of Chris Christie,” are made of heavy cotton, dark blue in color and boast a waistline of about 60 inches. There’s also a supposed signature by the governor himself on the left leg, written with what appears to be a gold sharpie: “Stay in shape, best wishes, Christ Christie. Gov N.J.” While neither the shorts nor the signature can be verified, the seller promises a money back guarantee if the eventual buyer isn’t satisfied.

According to jackrose104’s written explanation, the original owner won the shorts (and signature) at an auction held by Governor Christie at the beginning of his term in 2010. That one would attend such an event to begin with, let alone participate, suggests that said shorts-winner is or was a big fan of Christie. Turns out the key word here is was, for jackrose104 indicates that “the former owner of the pants is willing to sell them because he is disillusioned about the situation involving Christie and Trump.”
