A Trump Supporter Interrupted A ‘Hamilton’ Performance By Shouting Profanities At The Cast During A Show

The fallout from Vice President-elect Mike Pence taking in a performance of Hamilton continues as we hurl onward into the future. According to Broadway World, a Trump supporter interrupted a performance of Hamilton in Chicago on Saturday night by yelling at the performers in the cast.

Now, BroadwayWorld has learned that a Trump supporter interrupted the Saturday evening performance of Hamilton in Chicago. An audience member seated in the balcony allegedly shouted “We won! You Lost! Get over it! F*ck you!” during the number “Dear Theodosia” … The initial disturbance began after the audience member was enraged by the line “immigrants, we get the job done.” The majority of the audience cheered that specific line.

Broadway World goes on to note that the performers appeared to be unfazed by the incident during the performance, but that some were in tears when the show ended. “At the end, the performers were crying… so was I,” the site quotes one audience member as saying. “They didn’t break characters once. They still sang their hearts out.”

Some took to Twitter with the news.

As you may have heard, Pence was booed by the audience when he arrived at Broadway’s Richard Rodgers Theater on Friday night. After the performance ended, a member of the cast — speaking on behalf of the entire cast — addressed Pence directly saying, “We are the diverse America that are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents. Or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights.”

Later on Saturday Donald Trump himself entered the fray, tweeting a demand for an apology by the Hamilton cast. Finally, some Trump supporters are calling for a boycott of the show.

On the bright side, maybe now it will be easier for everyone else to get Hamilton tickets if Trump supporters do indeed boycott, though most of them probably don’t strike many as theater-going types.
