The First Reactions To The ‘Justice League’ Early Screening Have Arrived

Justice League opens in seven days, but some lucky so-and-so’s snagged seats at an early screening. The social media embargo lifted this afternoon, so these critics were finally able to share some early reactions on Twitter, with that new 280-character limit giving them more room to dish details.

It wasn’t all positive (we’ll get to that), but one opinion many people shared was that the team chemistry is great and the characters’ personalities are true to the comics. One character who especially garnered praise was The Flash (Ezra Miller), so expect Flashpoint to definitely move forward, possibly with another fan favorite helping Barry along the way.

Justice League is better than expected, but not a home run. The interaction between the team is a lot of fun. The film sends the DCEU in a hopeful direction in line with where the brand should be headed. Flash and Aquaman steal the show. Cyborg and villain are the weak links.

Justice League is the super heroes we've been waiting for. Aquaman rocks. Cyborg is bad-ass. The Flash is awesome. Wonder Woman builds from an already great standalone. Batman assembles them and it's great.

So, Justice League… To quote Aquaman, I dig it. The Flash is a great addition, there are some fun character moments & it gets its heroes right for the most part (one in particular). There are some definite issues but film's pretty satisfying. More next week! pic.twitter.com/i1qGGiSXJd

Wonder Woman and Aquaman were also stand-outs, while CGI villain Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds) seemed to underwhelm:

Justice League is not a perfect movie. It has story "flaws" and a simple, CGI villain.

BUT, more importantly, it gets the heroes right. Every member of the League is fantastic and it's tough to choose a favorite.

It's a ton a fun, start to finish.

— Brandon Davis (@BrandonDavisBD) November 10, 2017

The flaws rest mainly on the rapid-fire pace, lack of suspense and a villain that fails on every level to be scary, formidable or memorable. Thankfully, the League does not fall in that category. #JusticeLeague @joblocom

Some loved the tone of the film spoke of it as though it’s pressing a reset button on the DCEU.

It’s also worth noting how much Justice League feels like a superhero cartoon or an actual comic book run. It’s messy and fun but weird in that way.

— Peter Sciretta (@slashfilm) November 10, 2017

JUSTICE LEAGUE! It's okay. Narratively it's a mess, the stakes don't work & the villain isn't great. HOWEVER, the heroes ARE great, it's funny, & there's some surprisingly effective character work. I didn't love it, but there are enough good pieces to excite me for the future. pic.twitter.com/OY4ARJ5vDY

They did it Justice League is wonderful. Heartfelt, funny, but with high stakes and consequences. They address and fix many peoples issues with BvS, but in ways it helps the story and characters. So many surprises you all have no idea about. #justiceleague

so I saw Justice League a week and a half ago. it’s enjoyable and fun! people who thought Man of Steel and BvS were too much of a bummer (this very much includes myself) can feel relieved this is not like that at all.

— Albert Ching (@albertxii) November 10, 2017

If you liked previous #DCEU films, you’ll probably like #JusticeLeague. If you didn’t like BvS or SS, you’ll probably like Justice League.

People also referred to it as being a Zack Snyder movie, despite Joss Whedon’s reshoots:

To be clear, JUSTICE LEAGUE is DIRECTED BY ZACK SNYDER. Snyder’s presence is felt throughout ENTIRE film.

Bottom line: JUSTICE LEAGUE is awesome!

ZACK SNYDER’s film is filled with so many moments that had me geeking out and crying nerd tears. When an action scene/hero moment hits, the film is firing on all cylinders.

Still love Affleck’s BATMAN. My fav Batman actor since Keaton. pic.twitter.com/YKZTbVJL7D

Critics seemed to be of two minds about Superman Henry Cavill and his fancy invisible mustache.

— Nate Brail (@NateBrail) November 10, 2017

Nothing could save JUSTICE LEAGUE from its loud, ugly, tacky self. Not Wonder Woman, not wide-eyed Ezra Miller, not Joss Whedon's quippy teardown & rebuild. And Henry Cavill's mustache is an actual issue; they gave him Uncanny Valley Face. Oof, guys. It's a rough ride

And you will definitely want to wait for the final post-credits scene featuring Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, teasing his solo film opening October 5th, 2018.

— Nate Brail (@NateBrail) November 10, 2017

I have a lot to say about ‘Justice League’ but will wait till it’s released to really get into it. But two important things to know: stay till the very end of the credits and Jason Momoa (@PrideofGypsies) is awesome as Aquaman. pic.twitter.com/Pg6cKCZAEo

And some people on Twitter saw an opportunity for some exquisite trolling:

*kisses fingertips* Magnificent.
