The new Avengers: Endgame trailer has finally arrived, and the reason for the wait grows glaringly clear once the final seconds come into focus. Thor comes face to face with Captain Marvel, who greets him with her usual stoic demeanor (remember, she’s still working on the emotions thing), and he’s impressed. Well, as impressed as Thor could possibly be with this declaration: “I like this one.” Now that Carol Danvers made her MCU debut last week, an unveiling was in order, and we’re seeing confirmation that the most powerful Avenger of all could help the group defeat Thanos.
In other developments — because there’s a whole other team, after all — the trailer flashes back to the first Iron Man Movie to signal Tony Stark’s return, who signals that Phase 3 is rolling to a close while referring to his final “surprise” (he’s back on Earth) to come in a voiceover where he speaks to Pepper Potts. Meanwhile, Steve Rogers is still down in the dumps, probably not only because he saw “all these people” die, but also, his lifelong best friend, Bucky Barnes, is gone. He can’t move on, but the team must push forward. Fortunately, Rocket is bent upon avenging his fellow Guardians, and a serious Ant-Man is definitely on the scene while Marvel drops a few hints (including those suits) about the quantum realm being a thing here. (Fingers crossed on that last note.)
Avengers: Endgame arrives on April 26. Marvel Studios also dropped a new poster. Captain America’s still front and center, but he’s flanked foremost by Black Widow, Captain Marvel, Nebula, and Okoye. A nice nod to the lady power.
