WWE
WWE Evolution got the short end of the stick when it came to booking at promotion in 2018, but WWE’s first-ever all-women’s PPV turned out to be a really enjoyable show. There has been talk about continuing with that or something similar (possibly Queen of the Ring) this year, but so far nothing has been confirmed.
During her recent visit to United Arab Emirates, Stephanie McMahon was asked by The National whether we can expect a follow up to Evolution, and her answer was positive in its tone but exceptionally vague.
We haven’t announced any plans yet for Evolution but we have a lot of things in the works right now. One thing that is important to note with Evolution that it was our first ever all-women’s streaming special pay per view is that it trended No 1 world wide for two and a half hours during the last game of the World Series and during NFL Sunday Night Football. Both huge audiences in the United States but it was WWE Evolution that was trending No 1.
It’s both telling and in-character that Steph talks up the importance and success of Evolution while being vague about whether there will be another one. Meanwhile, backstage rumors are swirling that WWE is trying to get a women’s match on the card for this fall’s Saudi Arabia show, which they seem to think may mitigate the need for an all-women’s event. However, if WWE thinks the enthusiastic audience for Evolution will be satisfied by one match held at a propaganda show for a dictator and his family, I suspect they’re mistaken.
