A Fan Favorite Prepares For Battle In New Photos From The Next Episode Of ‘Game Of Thrones’

HBO

Ever since “Winterfell,” the first episode of the final season of Game of Thrones, premiered Sunday night, fans and cast members alike have been theorizing about where HBO’s flagship series might go in episode two. Of course, this being Game of Thrones, no one will know precisely what happens during the next entry until it airs this coming Sunday. We don’t even know the episode title! Though we do have a few visual teases now, as the first photos from the next episode have been released.

For example, we’ve got a new glimpse of Lyanna Mormont, the young Lady of Bear Island and head of House Mormont whose snarky comments for Jon Snow, Sansa Stark and Davos Seaworth were heard ’round the internet way back in 2016.

The ever-loyal subject of the King of the North previously agreed to face off against the Night King’s approaching army of White Walkers, and judging by her heavily armored appearance in the photo below, it looks like Lady Lyanna’s going to be a woman of her sassy word.

Meanwhile, the rest of our first look at the second episode of Game of Thrones‘ eighth and final seasons offers a glimpse of a mostly allied defense preparing for an invasion. Like Grey Worm and Missandei, two of Daenerys Targaryen’s trusted advisors and lovers who were reunited at the end of season seven.

Tyrion Lannister, of course, hasn’t let go of his occasional libations — even in the midst of military strategizing and the various, justified notions of doom and gloom that many of those facing off with the Night King share.

Concerned parties include Varys, Daenerys and Jorah Mormont.

As well as Jon and Arya Stark.

As for Jaime Lannister, who’s present because he truly believes in the threat the White Walkers pose to all of Westeros (despite sister Cersei Lannister’s toxic influence), he doesn’t seem as enthused about going into battle. Why Because he saw Bran Stark in the flesh, the kid he tried to kill in the very first season of Game of Thrones. So, yeah… he doesn’t look too well.

As for Bran, he doesn’t seem to mind Jaime’s presence all that much. He’s more interested in staring at a Weirwood tree.
