Twitter was ablaze after Game Of Thrones ran the longest episode in its eight season history, the definitive battle between the living and the dead in Sunday night’s “The Long Night.” Clocking in at just over 90 minutes, the episode featured nearly all of the show’s remaining important characters involved in the longest battle sequence the show has ever put on screen.
It was as intense as advertised, with an ending built upon years of brilliant foreshadowing. And like most of us, the NBA universe was captivated.
(As a warning: You can probably guess, but we’re about to dive pretty heavily into spoilers from the episode, so read on at your own discretion.)
When Arya Stark came plummeting out of the darkness to plunge a Valeryian steel dagger into the Night King’s stomach, rendering the army of the dead into nothing but dust, in the episode’s climax, it sent NBA Twitter into a frenzy.

Other reactions came pouring in, including from Paul Pierce, whose emoji use has come a long way from the best NBA player tweet in history.

Frank Kaminsky had a few critical thoughts that mirrored what a chunk of the audience took away from the episode, in that the rules that once drove the show’s world have seemingly been flipped on its head.

With just three episodes to go, NBA players remain as invested in Game Of Thrones as the general public.
