Less than a week again, it was reported that WWE’s Lars Sullivan would be out of action with a knee injury. It was unknown how serious the injury was and Sullivan was getting an MRI to find out.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it is serious enough that The Freak could be out of action for between six and nine months, putting him on the shelf until around the 2020 Royal Rumble or WrestleMania 36.
This is only the latest dramatic hitch in Sullivan’s WWE main roster career. After finally debuting after being teased via vignettes for months, a collection of terrible things Sullivan said on the bodybuilding.com forum about people from a variety of backgrounds spread throughout the wrestling fan community and spread far enough to get WWE some bad press. Sullivan apologized, some of his WWE coworkers took shots at him on Twitter about these comments, and ultimately WWE released a statement saying that they had fined Sullivan – an independent contractor – $100,000 dollars for his past posts.
However, that fine didn’t make a lot of people feel better about seeing Sullivan on their screens, especially when he went straight into a feud in which he repeatedly beat up a group of three non-white performers. It’s possible that this injury and time off will be a blessing in disguise for Sullivan, a chance for him to rehabilitate his image as well as his body.
