All Elite Wrestling Announced The Start Date Of Its Weekly Show On TNT And Dropped A Trailer

AEW

We found out back in May that All Elite Wrestling would have a TV show that would start airing on TNT in fall 2019. As of a press release today, we know when that show will premier and have some more information about its format.

According to AEW, the show “will begin airing its two-hour weekly matches on TNT on Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 8 p.m. ET to 10 p.m. ET.” It will also be a touring show, with the matches taking place “in different cities across the nation each week on Wednesdays, starting in Washington, D.C., at the famed Capital One Arena.” Ticket sale information for AEW’s first live show “will be announced Monday, July 29, at 12 p.m. ET via AEW’s social media platforms.”

The rest of the press release names some of the members of the AEW roster (with Cody and Brandi Rhodes, the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Hangman Adam Page, Chris Jericho, and Jon Moxely described as headliners, and Nyla Rose, Awesome Kong, Dustin Rhodes, Jungle Boy, Dr. Britt Baker, MJF, and SCU also listed as “incredibly skilled competitors”) and mentions the presence of Jim Ross. It also notes that Cody, Omega, and the Bucks are Executive Vice Presidents of AEW, while Brandi Rhodes is the Chief Brand Officer.

Before the announcement closes by reminding everyone that All Out will air on Bleacher Report Live, streaming home of all of AEW’s previous events, on August 31, here’s how the press release describes how AEW is supposed to feel more like real sports than other wrestling programs.

Focused on fast-paced, high-impact competitions, AEW offers fans more athleticism along with real sports analytics. Wrestlers are also given freedom to explore their characters and highlight their athletic abilities. Introducing statistics to wrestling for the first time ever, AEW will raise the stakes for its matches and deepen fan engagement by tracking each competitor’s wins and losses as wrestlers pursue championships. Their moves and damage to their opponents will also be analyzed on-air to provide insights into their winning streaks.

So while AEW doesn’t claim to be the only wrestling company in which Wins And Losses Matter, which would be false, their hook to make how they will portray the importance of wins and losses unique is the use of statistics, something they recently used on The Road to Fight for the Fallen to build to the Cody and Dustin vs. Young Bucks match.

On social media, AEW dubbed October 2 the beginning of “the All Elite Era.”
