AEW Crowned Its First World Champion At All Out

AEW

All Elite Wrestling‘s latest event is in the books, and the promotion has its first World Champion.

All Out — a show that featured action ranging from Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard to a man having thumb tacks poured into his mouth and then having his mouth duct taped shut — began with ‘Hangman’ Adam Page entering on a horse, built up to some gory “blood and guts” from Chris Jericho, and ended with Jericho once again making history.

In an important side note, referee Aubrey Edwards made some history of her own by being the first woman to referee a World Championship match on pay-per-view. Congrats, Aubrey!

In the finish of the match, Jericho was able to counter a discus lariat attempt with the “Judas Effect” back elbow strike (from outta nowhere, even) to win. Jericho becomes the first ever AEW World Champion, a new championship to go along with his three WWE World Heavyweight Championships and one reign as Undisputed Champion.

We’ll have to wait and see who steps up to challenge Jericho when AEW starts up on TNT starting on October 2. Jericho certainly has more stake in the “Wednesday Night War” he’s already commented on now that he’s officially the top star of the promotion.
